The U.S.-Japan alliance remains the cornerstone of peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The two countries are dedicated to advancing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” by responding to increasingly challenging regional security issues, strengthening deterrence, achieving sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and addressing global challenges like climate change and public health. However, the current international and regional security environment has been described as the worst since World War II, with deteriorating U.S.-China relations, mounting tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and intensifying missile testing by North Korea, all against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Please join the NCAFP’s Forum on Asia-Pacific Security for a conversation with a distinguished panel of experts as they assess the future of the U.S.-Japan alliance following Tokyo’s release of its transformational strategic documents and the Biden-Kishida summit.
