One of the most visible challenges facing the international community today is the troubling rise of violent extremism. While evident elsewhere, nowhere is this critical issue more apparent than in the shattered nations of Syria and Iraq. These, as with other failed or failing states, provide an environment that only helps to stir zealous and unconscionable attitudes and behavior.
On October 5, the NCAFP hosted Ambassador Robert Ford, former U.S. Ambassador to Syria, Algeria and Deputy Ambassador to Iraq, for a talk on this mounting extremism in Iraq, Syria and other areas. He was in conversation with James Bays, Diplomatic Editor of Al Jazeera.
