On December 1, 2016, the National Committee hosted a riveting discussion between two leading experts in the field of North Korea studies on the subject of North Korean nuclear policy and challenges.  The Honorable Han Sung-Joo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and Evans J.R. Revere, senior adviser to the Albright Stonebridge Group offered their perspectives on how to manage and mitigate the challenges posed by the North Korean nuclear program moving forward.  Moderating the discussion was Dr. Donald Zagoria, director of the NCAFP's Forum on Asia-Pacific Security.

Their remarks, conversation, and answers to audience questions traversed a number of subjects, ranging from the roles played by China and Russia, to the possible stances and actions of the next U.S. presidential administration, to the internal thinking of the North Korean regime.  The often less-than-optimistic outlooks of Minister Han and Mr. Revere were often stymied by a general lack of clarity regarding the future of U.S. policy in the region and further opacity regarding how the North Korean regime may choose to react to seeming uncertainty in both the South Korean and American presidential administrations.

Evans Revere spent time speaking personally with experts and guests in attendance.

The NCAFP is tremendously grateful for the support of Ambassador Kim Gheewhan and the Consulate General of Korea in New York for making the engaging evening a possibility.
