On Thursday, November 15 at 2:00 PM, the NCAFP hosted a roundtable discussion entitled "Laying the Groundwork for Democracy" as part of the NCAFP's Ethiopia Project "Peace Dialouges for a Sustainably Stable Ethiopia" at the Harvard Club in New York City.
The discussion was led by Professor Ephraim Isaac, Project and Country Director of the "Peace Dialogues for a Sustainably Stable Ethiopia," as well as the Director of the Institute of Semitic Studies, Princeton, New Jersey, a Fellow at the Dead Sea Scrolls Foundation, and a Fellow of Butler College, Princeton University. He was joined by Dr. Addisu Gebreigzabhier, who serves as Deputy Chairman of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia since 2007, and Professor Merga Bekana, Chairperson of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia. As Chairperson of the Board, Professor Bekana has successfully managed both local and general elections in 2008 and 2010 respectively, in addition to having organized referenda and by-elections.
